Allante Family Medicine is offering unlimited, yes I said UNLIMITED laser hair removal for $35 per month!! Whaaaaaat?!! If you sign a 12 month contract, you pay $35/month and $1 per zap. If you sign an 18 month contract, you get 35 free zaps, and $1 per zap over the 35. Trust me when I say, this IS a good deal. I know I say it all the time, but I really really really mean it!! I have the BEST job EVER!! You all brighten my days and give me energy to power through the rest of life! I LOVE YOU ALL!!! Thank you for supporting me and giving me encouragement and honest feedback.

On a separate note-

We are turning things up a notch, with NON-STOP playlists!! No more 3-4 second breaks in between songs. This will allow for more songs in the same amount of time, and for a higher intensity class all the way around. However, this also means you MUST MONITOR YOUR INTENSITY LEVEL! Please modify as you need to if you feel like its too much. Don't bring up your knees as high, keep you hands lower or don't do hands at all, or do step touch in place of jumping/bouncing moves. And make sure you get water whenever you need it, since there won't be breaks where you would normally get one. WOOOOOT!!! I think you are going to love it. And if not, I'm sure I will hear about it! ;)

YES for class this Thursday and Monday, NO for class of THURSDAY APRIL 21st and MONDAY APRIL 25th as I will be teaching Zumba at the Rose City Salsa Festival in Portland!!

There is a Zumbathon at Boise State University on Saturday April 23rd from 10am-4pm. Proceeds are going toward diabetes and juvenile diabetes research. Not sure of the cost, and unfortunately, I had to turn down an offer to teach, as I will be Oregon, but there will be other fantastic instructors, so GO!!!

Just a friendly little tip: Today I purchased some new workout pants, yoga style, from Forever 21 at the ripe old price of $7.50!! Fantastic fit, good, breathable material. I think they will be perfect for Zumba! There was only one rack of them (and as of today it was still pretty full) but I imagine they will go fast. So run, run, run to Forever 21 and buy some for yourself so you can feel sexy while you dance yourself sexy in my ZUMBA CLASS this Monday!!

One of the most frequent questions I have received from new patrons is "what should I wear to Zumba?" Good question- here is your answer:
Whatever regular workout attire you feel most comfortable in! Something that is easy to move in, and something that allows for adequate ventilation and body breathing. It will be different for everybody, just be sure that it is supportive in the necessary areas (ladies you know what I mean)!
Shoes need to be supportive tennis shoes. However, there is a lot of cross lateral movement in Zumba, and you may find that older shoes with worn down traction are best- so long as they still have good support.
If you are looking to make a new investment for Zumba shoes- any jazz or dance tennis shoe would be your best option. I wear Nike's dance shoe, that has a pivot in the toe, for easier turning and torquing. They run anywhere from $98- $130, depending on where you buy. I just found them on Zappos for $98.10.

All of the regulars were seriously blown away with the trio of new students that showed up last night. They couldn't believe it was their first time to our class! YEAH! Way to kill it ladies! Love new faces, fresh energy, and spreading the Zumba love!!

Remember how everyone's first class is FREE?! Yeah, I said FREE ZUMBA!

On a sad note... no Thursday Zumba through the month of November, and no Monday Zumba next week Nov. 22nd because I will be just getting home from San Francisco Salsa Congress.

I am LOVING all the new blood we've had in class lately. Particularly our new special student (whose name I will not write for privacy reasons). I hope that everyone is drawing from her energy and enthusiasm! Looking back at her and seeing how excited and happy she is through every single song is completely inspiring! I love her reckless abandon while dancing, and lack of inhibition....something we often view as awkward in society, but something I think we should all try to adopt on some level!

One of my favorite things about Zumba Fitness is its ability to help me let go of stress and worries, and to throw my entire self- body and mind- into something external. But I only experience that release when I truly allow myself to fall prey to the music and movement, and to let my body move how it wants to move, and not try to force a style that is not my own. Please try it for yourself this Thursday night. RELAX! Its just DANCING!!

Lovely Ladies!

I hope you understand when I tell you class is cancelled tonight. I woke up at 330am to do a zumba demo for channel 7 news, and after waiting until 6am, found out the director was misinformed and the demo is actually tomorrow. This means I must wake up at 330am again, and do TRIPLE ZUMBA tomorrow! Which is fantastic, because is there really such a thing a Zumba overload? Me thinks not.

However, if I try to teach a class tonight, and don't get to bed until 1030pm (which is unrealistically early, in reality) there is no way I will be able to pull off tomorrow's demos. SO NO CLASS TONIGHT!

But I promise I will bring the heat Monday night to make up for it! Please forward or text cancellation to anyone who may not see this post!

A few schedule changes to be aware of!

I have dropped my Ophidia classes. But don't be alarmed! You are in the good hands of Jaynelle and Anne, so check the website for their class schedule and pricing.

Gold's Thursday class will be moved hopefully to Wednesday at 10:30am, but that is yet to be finalized.

And finally to all my Pat Harris Babies- Remember that we will move to Mon/THURSDAY classes right after Labor Day. So no class on Monday Sept 6th (Labor Day), and then class on THURSDAY at 830pm.

Gold's Gym on Fairview and Cole is hosting an event called Dance 4 Life, where they launch their new Les Mills choreography. But this year, since Gold's has finally caught on to the new fitness phenom and added ZUMBA, there will be a Zumba time slot as well... AND YOU ARE ALL INVITED!!
It is FREE admission, with the option to donate or buy auction items with all proceeds going toward HIV/AIDS research.
ZUMBA is on stage at 1:25pm and we need your hype and love of Zumba! Came across this little blurb in my monthly Zumba newsletter, and really liked it. Thought I would share it with all of you. I am grateful for Zumba and the escape it provides for me, but I am more grateful my supportive students who make it all worth while. Each and everyone of you should really strive to use the one hour Zumba class to let go of inhibitions, and cares, and worries, and just let the music and movement overcome your body! It isn't about looking cute when you dance, or trying to copy my movements exactly, or anyone else's. It is about having one hour of you time, where you can be completely consumed by passion for music and dance, and forgetting about the hectic lives we lead!

Gratitude is a gift we give ourselves. It makes us feel happier and more peaceful. When we take a step back and really look at all that we have in our lives, we feel gratitude. That feeling of gratitude humbles us yet makes us stronger to go out and live our lives fully, leaving all fear, doubt and worry at the door.
Enter the Zumba program. Zumba class feels like an hour of living in the moment, and it is. In time, though, it becomes more than just an hour-long activity, it becomes a lifelong endeavor. The Zumba program is about expressing ourselves exactly as we are and loving every moment of what we do. Sure, there are steps to follow, shifts in rhythm, the warming up and the cooling down. But it teaches us and our students how to let go and enjoy. We let go in Zumba class and learn to let go in life. These are the moments when we feel most alive; and for these moments, we feel gratitude.
